All I want for Christmas…by Jacques du Toit
2015 has been a busy year for everyone. We at HomeTimes want to know what industry heavyweights are thinking about as the year draws to a close. Some are concerned about buyers, others sellers, and still others society in general. But what is it that they would like to see in their Christmas stocking for a better 2016?
Welcome to All I want for Christmas according to:
Absa Home Loans property analyst, Jacques du Toit
“My Christmas wish is for the stabilisation of conditions at some stage, both globally and locally, so the economy can start to grow. Only when we have higher growth can we expect to create more jobs. So these are some of the important factors one could hope for. What we both expect and hope for is that the economy does not go into recession but that, at worse, growth remains subdued. If we go into recession that would mean lower levels of employment and consumers being subjected to increased financial strain. For the property market, we hope that it is going to grow at a steady pace as we are currently experiencing, in terms of both sales volumes and price growth. Going into 2016, we’d like to see greater socioeconomic stability than we’ve seen over the course of 2015, which has taken the form of marches and protests.”
