Helderwyk Estate in Brakpan “the Sandton of the East”
Little known Helderwyk Estate in Brakpan is widely regarded as the “Sandton of the East”, according to Michael van Heerden, Seeff’s manager in Brakpan and Springs, who says the estate offers a level of opulence and splendour that is not only unrivalled in the Springs/Brakpan area, but in many other areas as well.
Situated just off the N17, Helderwyk is opposite Carnival City Casino and an approximately 25 minute commute from O.R. Tambo/Gautrain and 30 minutes from Johannesburg. The regional Carnival Mall is situated 3km from the estate.
According to Lightstone, Helderwyk Estate consists of close on 600 properties and approximately 240 sectional title units. Most freestanding homes in the estate have an average stand size of around 1,067sqm.
Shane Brown, developer of the estate, says Helderwyk caters to homeowners who place a high premium on security and quality schooling and who work in the East Rand but prefer to live close to work.
“Helderwyk’s has a Curro nursery, primary and high school on the estate and also has a state of the art gym. The gym has a permanent gym manager who assists and trains all our residents and provides several training options. There is also an impressive clubhouse for functions of any kind and a scenic park offering peace and tranquillity. The estate also boasts tennis courts and sport fields and there is a viewing gazebo to enjoy the wetlands and wild buck roaming the estate”.
Brown says the total value of homes on the estate is currently around R650m, but once completed will be closer to R2,45bn. The average price of a home in the estate is R2,9m, while the average house size is 567sqm.
