The Institute of Estate Agents Western Cape will host their next Property Update session on April 20, from 10am to 12:30pm, at their training centre in Sheldon Way, Pinelands.
Clinton Forlee from FinServe will be addressing audit readiness and discuss who is liable for the submission of audit reports to the Estate Agency Affairs Board and what the penalties will be for not submitting these by the due date. He will also discuss what can be done by the agent to ensure that his audit report is submitted timeously. Forlee will give tips on how to prepare annual financials properly and how to get the best report while keeping the audit costs down. There are certain compliance issues that agents have to adhere to, which will be covered in this session.
Forlee will then talk about trusts and wealth protection. He will discuss what the typical structure of a trust is and why property owners would choose a trust, particularly if they’re building a portfolio. The risk factor of investing as well as the cost of dying and how to protect funds will be covered.
Annette Evans, general manager of IEASA Western Cape, will speak to agents on Continuous Professional Development points, both verifiable and non-verifiable, and she will give pointers on mentorship and what is required during training for qualifications as well as internships and what is needed when completing a logbook – particularly from the mentor’s perspective.
The cost of this session is R250 plus VAT for non-members and R50 plus VAT for members. Seats are limited and members will be given first priority.
