Hout Bay development: design imitating nature

22 ON EARL, HOUT BAY (2) (1)A new townhouse development, offering just four homes, has launched in the Western Cape town of Hout Bay. ’22 On Earl’ is situated in Earl Street on the foothill of Nortshore. Stephan Cross, sales manager for Seeff Hout Bay, said that the units are priced at R3,85m each and offer an ideal indoor-outdoor flow suited to the characteristic seaside lifestyle of Hout Bay.

This vision of seamless indoor-outdoor living was applied by Michael Kommüller Architecture in designing the homes. The homes are modern while natural materials were used throughout, with architecture inspired by Hout Bay’s farming and fishing heritage. The Hout Bay landscape of mountain, valley, and sea is evident in the design of the homes with factors such as sea views and wind protection being vital informants into the design process.

This thorough consideration of nature and its elements means that buyers are assured of contemporary homes. “All of this careful consideration means that buyers can be assured of modern homes that offer unique living spaces that fit perfectly into the environment and meet the needs for modern urban living,” said Cross.
