Pam Golding Properties Goodwood office in Cape Town is running its third successive and successful Garden Competition in the suburb to create greater awareness of the added enjoyment and value an appealing garden adds to a property. Indigenous plant use and water-wise gardening is also encouraged.
“This event has proven so successful we are running it for the third year, with prizes for winners and runners-up in the different categories for Large Gardens, Medium or Small Gardens, and Back Gardens,” said Micheal dos Santos, area principal for Pam Golding Properties Goodwood. “We also give away a monthly spot prize from random draws in September, October and November, leading up to the on-site judging of entrants’ gardens during the first week in December 2016.
“Then there is the final prize giving in December to the winners and runners-up in each category, with prizes including seeds from Mayfair, compost and potting soil from Reliance, among others, while each contestant receives a six-month subscription to Garden and Home Magazine and a gift pack from the publishers.”
Judging criteria for the competition include design and layout, landscaping, plant use and choice, maintenance and condition, and general considerations which include bonus points for the use of indigenous plants and water-wise gardening methods.
