Sectional title corner – How do I pay the CSOS levy?

sectional-title-homes-resize

Q

Hi, our complex has seven units and our current levy is R1,500 per month. I have calculated that the levy that is due is as follows:

R1,500 – R500 = R1,000

R1,000 X 2% = R20

Therefore, the total levy that is due every three months is R140.

Is this correct?

Another question is how do I register and pay it over? – Bianca

A

Hi Bianca, the calculation of the CSOS levy is correct. The CS1 registration form should be used to register with CSOS. The CSOS levies are actually to be raised from 1 January 2017 and paid over to CSOS quarterly.

We are still awaiting confirmation of the payment method and if they will invoice the complexes.

Ed comment: According to the office of the ombudsman, the organisation is getting the same question on a daily basis. CSOS’ finance department is currently still working on the process of payment and should be issuing a directive on this soon. HomeTimes will be sure to keep readers informed.
