Sectional title corner – What does the CSOS have to do with expropriation?

Q

I heard that the Community Schemes Ombud Services Act (CSOS), and the office of the ombudsman, has something to do with the Land Expropriation Bill. Is there any truth to this? – Craig

A

Hi Craig, I have never heard the two in the same sentence before. The CSOS came about because government asked Prof Graham Paddock, Prof Cornie van der Merwe and Advocate Joseph Maluleke to investigate renewing the sectional title act and looking at a proper dispute resolution mechanism. I cannot see anything in the legislation that aligns with or paves the way for expropriation.
