Sectional title corner – Can our trustees increase levies by 20%?
Good day, our trustees have decided to increase our levies by 20% per annum. If you are an owner but not one of the trustees, do you have a say in the increase of levies?
In terms of Management Rule 21 (b) the trustees may only increase the levies by up to a maximum of 10% in the beginning of the financial year; they can propose a further increase at the AGM. The best route to follow is to approach CSOS. The notice also needs to be done in terms of Management Rule 25 of the Sectional Title Act.
