Ask a landscaper – How far away from the house should I plant the Washingtonia Robusta palm?

Q

Hi Nick, what is the ideal distance away from a pool to plant a Washingtonia Robusta palm tree? – David

A

Hi David, the Washingtonia has a large bulbous root system. They grow incredibly tall and when the wind blows they shift slightly. They can withstand very strong winds. The closest I would plant a tree of this size is 5m away from the pool and up to 20m away from the house.
