The art of loving yourself

It’s Valentine’s Day. Whether you’re feeling all loved up or a little alone today you can go ahead and pile on the love with some me-time. Go on, spoil yourself!

First things first – chocolates. Spoil yourself with some of your most favourite treats. This is valid any time of year; for an extra special spoil have some treats and gorgeous flowers delivered to you. Don’t forget to write yourself a note of appreciation.

If you’re like me and you love movies, have a movie marathon with your favourite celebrity crush (My celebrity crush is Liam Neeson  so I would watch all the Taken movies). I personally think this idea is better than going out to watch a movie, especially tonight, because if you’re at home you can get really comfortable and don’t need to be confronted with the throngs of moviegoers on annual date night.

Another option, especially good if you feel like fun company, is to volunteer to babysit for your favourite couple with kids. This will make you feel so good and I you will probably enjoy it more than the kids. The bonus is that you will literally make another couple’s month. Your friends will really love and appreciate you for their impromptu date night.

Feel like something a little fancier and more exciting? Why book a spa day for yourself, a massage, manicure and pedicure. You will walk out feeling relaxed and good about yourself. Invite a few of your friends with and suddenly it’s a party. Go out and shop for a new outfit, then go to the hairdresser and get a new haircut, they say a change is as good as a holiday.

Top tip: No budget for spa day? Pamper yourself at home with candles, a long bath and some home-made all natural facial masks.

Put together a playlist of your favourite music, move some furniture and have yourself a dance party, this will not only be super fun but its good exercise too.

We all have that one hobby that you love to do but you can never find the time to do it, it might be painting, sewing or pottery. Whatever it is, this is the best day to start doing it again, go out buy everything you need and take a day to just do something that you love.

Enjoy your ME time, after all there is no one you should spoil more, today, and every other day.
