Noetzie Castles sell for R28,5m on auction

Pezula Castle

Three of the fairytale castles nestled on the shoreline of the picturesque Noetzie Beach near Knysna on the Garden Route sold by High Street Auctions to a German buyer for R28,5m, including all furniture.

The property comprises Pezula Castle, situated in its own manicured private garden with the sand of Noetzie beach just a few metres away. The magnificent residence provides ultimate luxury with every conceivable comfort, including a heated rim-flow pool, huge terraces with panoramic views of the ocean and a well-equipped gym.

Does selling by auction limit your buyers’ pool?

Beach Castle is arguably one of the most romantic hideaways in the world. Totally secluded and private, it is decorated in shades of cream and blue with quirky accessories that give it a distinctly nautical flavour.

The eagle’s nest of Cliff Castle completes the property. This quaint castle is set against the rock face above Pezula Castle and boasts panoramic views of the beach and ocean. It offers spacious accommodation and absolute privacy for a couple, with a luxury en-suite bedroom and an adjoining open-plan living area that comprises a kitchenette and comfortable seating space.

Noetzie Castles and other drool-worthy holiday rentals

High Street lead auctioneer and director, Joff van Reenen, said final details of the sale were negotiated post the March multi-property auction, when the castles first went under the hammer.

“The international buyer initially approached us at the auction with an offer that was presented to the seller.

“After some vigorous negotiation the parties agreed on the sale price. The necessary guarantees have now been met and the sale is through.”
