If you are suffering from smelly feet, you’re probably sick and tired of dealing with the embarrassment and discomfort. The big question is what can you do about it? Fortunately, there are a few things you can try that will hopefully see you say goodbye to smelly feet, once and for all.
12 tips to squash the odour
#1 Try using roll-on if your feet are sweaty; if it works for under your arms it should work for your feet as well. Just apply it to your feet before you put on your socks and shoes.
#2 Soak your feet in some black tea for 30 minutes every day. The tannic acid in the tea will close the pores and your feet will sweat less. Boil 2 teabags in 2 cups of water for 15 minutes, remove the teabags and add some water, let it cool down and then place your feet in it.
#3 Mix some Epsom salts into a basin filled half way with warm water and then soak your feet in it for at least 15 minutes. The salt will kill most of the bacteria that is on your feet.
#4 The easiest of the tips is to buy a foot powder that you can dust your feet with every morning before you put on your socks and shoes. You can buy these powders at any pharmacy or supermarket.
#5 Instead of wearing closed shoes every day, allow your feet to breathe by wearing shoes with open-mesh sides or sandals.
#6 Try wearing cotton socks instead of polyester; polyester socks will cause your feet to sweat more.
#7 Don’t wear the same pair of shoes every day. You should allow your shoes to air out for at least 24 hours before wearing them again.
#8 Don’t throw your shoes in a closet when you get home; bacteria will thrive in dark spaces so rather keep them in a place where it’s bright and ventilated for at least 24 hours.
#9 Try applying an acne treatment to the bottom of your feet; this will help to fight off bacteria.
#10 Buy a foot spa to use at home, then add some thyme oil to the water. If you don’t have thyme oil you could also add a splash of mouthwash because it contains thyme oil.
#11 Buy a fragrant foot rub, like lavender oil and rub a few drops of it on your feet before you get into bed. Rub it in nicely and after that put on some socks. This will not only make your feet smell incredible but will help to kill bacteria on your feet that cause smelly feet.
#12 Add one cup of vinegar to a basin of warm water; mix it well and then soak your feet in it for 20 to 25 minutes. Don’t do this if you have any open sores or broken skin on your feet as it will cause you a lot of pain.
